A legacy of secrecy and ambiguity have made nuclear launch procedures and their history to be both little known and to appear as an inherently impenetrable subject. The goal of this section is to help interested parties gain a firm understanding of what is currently known about these issues. This information is updated and maintained as often as possible.
The Primers are short summaries on central topics of history and policy. They are succinctly written and heavily referenced.
The Document Library serves as a repository for primary sources on the history and policy of nuclear command and control. The documents are, wherever possible, linked or stored for direct access. Document descriptions and interpretive commentary are also available.
The Bibliography is an annotated description of secondary sources, such as books and articles, that are useful references for understanding the history and policy of nuclear command and control.
